Vision Screenings for Children

July 30, 2012 By Bruce Gleason

One of the most important tasks that the Lions Club has is the assistance with vision impairment or loss. With this goal in mind the Jamestown Lions Club has partnered with the Chautauqua Blind Association (www.chautauquablind.org) to assist in vision screenings for children. Since vision issues are not easy to spot in younger children one of the best ways to make sure that your child’s vision is sharp and clear is to get a vision screening done by the recommended age of 3. Screenings are just the first step but knowing is half the battle. Left unchecked, a vision issue in young children can cause more permanent issues down the road. Once discovered there are many ways to correct, treat, and modify a vision issue before it gets worse.

If you are interested in a vision screening at your school or organization please contact the Jamestown Lions Club or the Chautauqua Blind Association to schedule a screening.

Donate Your Recyclable Cans and Bottles for a Cause

June 11, 2012 By Bruce Gleason

Recently the Jamestown Lions Club partnered with the Southside Redemption Center to allow anyone to drop off their recyclable cans and bottles and donate the money to help aid the community through the Jamestown Lions. We are always looking for new opportunities to serve our community and Jason and Robert Porter from the Southside Redemption Center have allowed us another avenue to generate  revenue to do so. The money from the donated recyclables will go back to the community to aid in assistance with our blind friends, vision screenings, and additional community services that look to expand and better the people who live and work here. If you would like more information or are interested in donating some recyclables for the Jamestown Lions just drop your cans off at The Southside Redemption center and let them know they are for The Jamestown Lions Club.
